Career Planning Research Activity 70 Points Due: 4/4/11 (Monday)

What is the difference between a job and a career?  A job is work that you do mainly to earn money.  A career is a commitment to work in a field that you find interesting and fulfilling.

Guidelines  Research a career that you are interested in pursuing.  You will type answers to the following questions: 1. What is the specific career? 2. What exactly do individuals within this career field do? (career description) 3. What type of education and training do individuals within this career field need?

Continued 4. How long does the schooling and/or training last? 5. What is the salary range for this career? 6. Why specifically are you interested in this career field? 7. Where did you get your answers to these questions?

Career Research Restrictions  Do not research any career that is illegal.  Also, do not research careers that deal with professional athletics or show business.  If you become a professional athlete or an A- list celebrity that will be great. For now, however, research a “just in case that doesn’t work out” career field.

 We will spend a class period using the school’s computer labs (3/31).  You will be responsible for finishing any part of the assignment that you don’t finish during class time. Use your time in the computer lab wisely!
