Josiah Willard Gibbs He was the man that invented chemical energy.

Josiah Willard Gibbs (February 11, 1839 – April 28, 1903) was an American theoretical physicist, chemist, and mathematician. He devised much of the theoretical foundation for chemical thermodynamics as well as physical chemistry. As a mathematician, he invented vector analysis (independently of Oliver Heaviside). It is in good part thanks to Gibbs that much of physical and chemical theory has since been exposited using vector analysis. Yale University awarded Gibbs the first American Ph.D. in engineering in 1863, and his entire career at Yale.

Chemicals When different chemicals are mixed together to form gunpowder or dynamite, a violent explosion can happen if care is not taken to prevent this. An explosion can do work against the force of gravity, for example, by throwing pieces of objects into the air. A mixture of chemicals that can do work is said to have chemical energy. Also, energy stored in a substance and released during a chemical reaction such as burning wood, coal, or oil. And a substance stays together because of the chemical bonds that keeps all of them together.
