Anson Jones Becomes President Early life- Anson Jones first arrived in Texas in Soon he built a medical practice in Brazoria, Texas. Jones later fought in the Texas Revolution. After the revolution, hr served in congress. In 1838, Sam Houston appointed Jones minister to the United States and had lost his job, when Mirabeau Lamar took office. He later served as Senate, then as secretary of state during Houston’s second term in office. In this position, Jones tried to convince the United States to annex Texas.

Anson Jones Becomes President Presidential Policies- Jones was elected in Jones continued Houston’s policies on most of the issues facing the problem. He maintained Houston’s peace policy toward the Texas Native Americans. Jones also tried to make peace with Mexico. He worked hard to convince Mexico to recognize Texas Independence. The most pressing issue during the Jones presidency, however was annexation.
