Executing Right Turns Approach as far RIGHT as possible Keep near to the curb or parked vehicles Do not swing outward or into other lane

Right Turn on Red A motorist is unable to make a right turn at a red light when there is a sign posted stating “No Turn on Red” NJ Law authorizes a right turn on red light after a motorist: 1.Comes to full stop 2.Checks for traffic 3.Yields to pedestrians

Left Turns Executing a Left Turn -Yield to oncoming traffic -Do not cross center line -Approach the turn as close as possible to the line nearest the center of the road -Turn into the lane nearest the center part of the road

Steering Left Hand – 9 o’clock Right Hand – 3 o’clock Your grip should be firm but not too tight.

Parking Regulations Fire Hydrant = 10 ft. Crosswalk = 25 ft. Stop Sign = 50 ft. Fire Station (same side)= 20 ft. Fire Station (opposite side) = 75 ft. Railroad Crossings: 15 feet School Bus: - 25 ft. away on a two-lane road - Slow to 10mph if on other side of median

Speed Control Business/Residential/School 25 mph Suburban Business/Residential 35 mph All other roadways 50 mph Certain state highways 55 mph Certain highways (as posted) 65 mph ~ If you are stopped by an officer for speeding in a 65 mph speed limit zone, your fines will be DOUBLED!!

Following Distance One-Car Length Rule One car length should be left between you and the vehicle in front of you for each 10 mph of speed. Example: 50mph = 5 car lengths Three Seconds Plus Rule Picked a fixed object on the roadway; 3 seconds should pass from the time the car in front of you passes that object to the time that your car passes the object.

Parking Regulations DOWNHILL When parking facing downhill, turn your front wheels towards the curb. This will keep the vehicle from rolling into traffic if the brakes become disengaged. UPHILL Turn the steering wheel to the left so the wheels are turned away from the curb if you are facing uphill. The tires will hit the curb if it rolls backward.

Seat Belts All occupants must wear a seat belt. The driver is responsible for passengers under the age of 18. Front seat passengers 18 and older are responsible for themselves. Now a PRIMARY offense for front seat occupants. SECONDARY offense for back seat occupants. (Back seat occupant can be issued the summons). Seat Belts help to: -Keep motorist from being thrown from vehicle -Slow body down -Keep body from sliding during sudden stops or turns

Car Seats Child car seats should be placed in the rear of the vehicle when possible. An infant seat should face the rear of the vehicle.
