Benefits of Setting Goals Goals give direction to your behavior and a pattern to your decisions. Goals act as milestones and help you measure how far you’ve come and how far you have left to go. Accomplishing goals gives you confidence and satisfaction.

Long-Term and Short-Term Goals There are two types of goals: A long-term goal is a goal that you plan to reach over an extended length of time. A short-term goal is a goal that you can reach in a short length of time.

Achieving a Personal Health Goal Setting and meeting a series of short-term goals can help you achieve a long-term goal.

Reaching Your Goal Once you have decided on a goal, you need an effective goal-setting plan to stay on track and achieve it. An effective goal-setting plan helps you organize and manage your effort so that you can achieve the desired results.
