Web of Science (WoS) – Search Form Demonstration search on Vancomycin as a Topic. To focus results, limit search terms to being in the Title..
WoS – Search Results Limiting results to review papers and resorting results are two effective ways to focus results.
WoS – Results Sorted by Times Cited The most cited paper on Vancomycin was included in an author’s bibliography 1,178 times. Most cited is one potential measure of importance.
WoS – Limited to Review Papers + Sorted by Relevance Relevance is based on number of times search terms occur and which fields they are present in. While some review papers may be focused on a particular area, some provide a quick way to assess the research landscape for an area.
WoS – Going Back to Previous (All Articles on Vancomycin) Before using “power” tools such as Analyze, click on Back to Previous link to return to all articles on Vancomycin.
WoS – Using Analyze Results Analyze results provides summary information for search results. Use Analyze Results to see which authors are publishing the most papers on a topic, when research was published (publication year), broad subject areas of research, and sources where research was published.

WoS – Analyze by Publication Year To sort number of articles written in chronological order, change Sort by option to Selected Field
WoS – Analyze by Subject Alphabetical view of records grouped by Subject Area
WoS – Analyze by Subject Subjects are based on journals, not individual articles in a journal. Choosing Chemistry, Medicinal is a quick way to filter results. Chemistry, Multidisciplinary includes the most prestigious journals in chemistry that publish articles across all areas within chemistry.
