ATF2 weekly meeting 4 July 2007 MONALISA: Attachment of Vacuum Vessels for ATF2 David Urner

ATF2 weekly meeting 4 July 2007 Basic Idea Use Compact Straightness Monitor to relate top of QD0 magnet with top of Shintake Monitor Use Distance Meters to monitor pole tip of magnet and IP-BPM. Shintake Monitor Table QD0 Monalisa Optics Mount MONALISA Vacuum Tube BPMIP-BPM Monalisa Optics Mount

ATF2 weekly meeting 4 July 2007 Shintake Table QD0 MONLISA mounting plate MONLISA mounting plate MONALISA Vacuum Tube Double Bellow System Scaffolding for back end of double bellow system Bracket for front end of double bellow system. Attached to Shintake scaffolding First approximation: Assume double bellow system decouples perfectly.

ATF2 weekly meeting 4 July 2007 Shintake Table QD0 MONLISA mounting plate MONLISA mounting plate MONALISA Vacuum Tube Double Bellow System Scaffolding for back end of double bellow system Bracket for front end of double bellow system. Attached to Shintake scaffolding First approximation: Assume double bellow system decouples perfectly.

ATF2 weekly meeting 4 July 2007 Attaching Vacuum System Force-Free Back end of double bellow system: Attach to floor moun- ted scaffolding Contains the optics of interferometer. Front end of double bellow system Attach vacuum tube For interferometer 6 Strain gauges Needs bellow to allow motion of BPM –Vacuum causes a force order of 100N! Develop small force vacuum mount using double bellow system. Allows small motion (~1 mm) of BPM- system Test stand to measure remaining (perpendicular) force on BPM frame.

ATF2 weekly meeting 4 July 2007 Proceed to a FEA of Full System Find way to model vacuum bellow in FEA Use prototype in lab to validate model Here attach vacuum tube for interferometer Attached to BPM. Holds retro reflector. Firm connection Strain Gauge -1mm-3mm1mm3mm 1N 2N -1N 0N -2N -3N Force exerted on carbon frame (BPM) ±1mm: < 0.5N/mm ±3mm: < 0.8N/mm Force exerted by perpendicular motion

ATF2 weekly meeting 4 July 2007 More Input needed To prove that no unwanted frequencies will be introduced: We will do a integrated FEA of Shintake-Table+MONALISA-Vacuum- System –Requires Parameters of Shintake table. –Boundary conditions. –Helpful: get Model Report from Shintake-table FEA. Any additional information about size and structure of new Shintake Monitor Mounting system. Fundamental Question: –Is space free on top of Shintake Monitor? –Is space free on top of QD0? –How much weight can we add to the QD0 magnet (movers)? –Is it ok to attach our bracket to Shintake Monitor scaffolding? Can we orient QD0 in such a way that the terminal side is downstream and can we mount the BPM on this side of the magnet?
