The Vow 9 Frame Analysis of the Film Trailer, a magazine cover and a Film Poster Analysis.
Presentation transcript:

Both actresses are wearing wedding dresses which indicates that the film is about two women who are both getting married at a similar time. ‘Even best friends can’t share the same wedding day.’ supports that this is what the film is initially about. Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway are both already associated with rom-coms and the subtle lighting on their faces helps to portray this film as something that is romantic and light- hearted. The knives in the poster symbolise violence, however they are cake knives which makes the threatening pose a lot less serious. It is also interesting how Anne Hathaway is not wearing a ring but Kate Hudson is. Even though it is the other hand, this may suggest that something happens to compromise her wedding in the film.

The Strangers movie poster has connotations of darkness and uncertainty. The three characters in the masks are clearly the ‘villains’ in the film as they are portrayed to be hidden by their haunting masks. ‘Because you were home.’ indicates that the film is set in the house of the two people sitting down. This caption haunts the audience as it could so easily have been anyone targeted. The poster shows that the two characters have possibly been trapped in their own house by the three people who are spookily wearing masks to conceal their identity in the poster. This leads the audience to be intrigued by who these people really are. The name of the film ‘the strangers’ also tells you what the film is initially about as well as the genre. The overall lighting is dark and you cannot see anyone's face. This makes the poster look haunting and the fact that the three characters in the masks do not have their real names on the poster makes it even scarier and seem more realistic than it actually is. This also goes along with the idea that the strangers really are…strangers.

The poster clearly represents an action genre as it features all of the well known superheroes previously starring in their own action films. The setting is a key feature that represents the genre of the film. the spaceships, buildings and explosions are all icons of the genre action. The actors names are all at the top of the poster which allows the audience to recognise the names and associate them with previous films. The colours and the costumes also represent the film genre as they relate to their own individual films. For example, the colours for captain America are really recognisable and the audience associate them with the film Captain America.
