Back Stroke: 2 Pull Buoys and flutter kick (also can be used for Elementary Back Stroke Whip Kick).

Back Stroke: Pull Buoy on lap; perform back stroke arms. Option: 3 arm strokes on right; 3 arm strokes on left.

Handstands In shallow water. Beginning step for diving and pike surface dive. Pike Surface Dive: – Begin students in the shallow end. – Practice doing a handstand. – Once students master this, move deeper in the water until they cannot touch. – Repeat handstand process until students master the Pike Surface Dive.

Somersault Students practice in shallow enough water that they can stand, but deep enough that they will not hit their head on the bottom.

Kickboard Diving Each student has a kickboard. Students kick (with proper technique) to the middle of the lane/pool. Once they reach the middle, they dive down and touch the bottom of the pool with the tip of the kickboard. Increases kicking power. Builds lung capacity. Usually takes multiple attempts to accomplish.

Police Officer Circle Swimming: – Swimmers go down the right side. – Return down the left side. – Instructor is the “police officer”. – Police Officer gives tickets to students who swim on the wrong side of the road (lane).
