A closer look into Cinematography A Cinematographer can also be known as a producer and/or a director. When motion pictures first started out, the Cinematographer was usually the director and they person handling the camera. Now a days a Cinematographer usually takes care of the lighting. Making sure there are no shades behind the actor.
Preparing Have to have knowledge of optics, filters, exposure, composition, lighting, film development, special effects, color composition, scene blocking, and sound. You have to take a film studies program, or you can take a class in the university. You have to have a very detailed perspective. Think outside of the box. The classes that you would have to take in a college would be Editing, Film History, Screenwriting, etc.
Training The type of training that can help you become a Cinematographer can go from taking Physics to a film photography class. Schools like UCLA or LA film schools can also help you become a great Cinematographer.
Style Horror- Darken the style of the movie with intense movements. Action- Lights up the movie and makes the audience feel like their inside of the movie. Fantasy- In the movie Life of Pi, the lighting goes with the mood of the movie. Colorful scenes are shown.
