Presentation transcript:

We researched our ancestors to find out where they came from and why they came to America.

We discovered that many of our ancestors came from several countries and continents. Even though they came for different reasons, the main reason that they came to America was to be…..

Enter our explorations into our heritage and learn about our ancestors. We hope that this will spark your interest in your ancestors.

My ancestors came from Poland. They wanted to come to America to be free, because of World War II. They wanted to raise their children in a free country.

My ancestor came to America because he was captured by the British when Scotland was fighting a war against them at the battle of Preston in His punishment was to be deported to the British colonies in 1716.

My mom came to America, because she met my dad when he came with the military to South Korea. She decided to come to America to marry my dad and have a better life than before. She lives living here, but she misses her family who are still in S. Korea. I like it when we visit them.

My family came from Ireland, England, and Wales. They came to America because they did not have enough to eat. They could not do everything they wanted to do, and they wanted to live a better life.

My ancestors came from Germany because they wanted to have an even better life than they had. They also wanted to come to America because they wanted to make sure that their kids would be free. We don’t have any pictures of them.

My grandparents came to America from South Vietnam. They came here because in Vietnam they had a war. The new government made them leave Vietnam. Their house was burned down. They didn’t have a home to live in. They came here to be free!

My ancestors came from Greece to America during the early 1800’s, because they did not want to be ruled by kings. They also came for more land and to be treated better.

My Irish ancestors came to America, because the Scottish were taking their land. They also needed more money. When they came the Americans treated them badly by making them have jobs no one else wanted, not giving them the right pay, and by not allowing them to eat in coffee shops. They didn’t give up and soon they became part of the American melting pot.

My great, great grandparents came to America during World War II. They came here to escape from the Nazis. They wanted to be free, and not have to worry about the war.

My ancestors came from Scotland. I think they came here because they wanted freedom and power over the government. It affects me because I would not be in America today if they hadn’t come. I’m also glad that they just didn’t sit around and pout. They took action because they wanted freedom so much.

My ancestors came to America from Scotland. They needed to be free and safe. They wanted to have their own life and not be ruled by kings and queens. They didn’t want any of this so they came here where they could be free.

England is where mine came from. One of my ancestors was thought to be the 19th singer of the May Flower Compact. Another one of my ancestors was Susan B. Anthony. This ancestor was a Quaker. Quakers helped the slaves. The Quakers were very religious people. Courtesy of The Susan B. Anthony House, Rochester, NY

Some of us do not have pictures of our ancestors because they lived so long ago. We are proud of our heritage. We hope that you are as proud of yours!
