Foundations of Government EQ: What events preceded (antecedents) and contributed to the formation of the Constitution?

F4: I can explain the development of the United States Constitution. 4 Advanced “I understand it even better than my teacher taught it.” 3 Proficient “I understand it just the way my teacher taught it.” 2 Basic “I understand some of the simpler stuff but still struggle with the harder parts.” 1 Below Basic “With some help, I can do it.” I can argue for which document had the greatest influence on the Constitution and the development of our government. I can explain the influence of historical documents (Magna Carta, Mayflower Compact, Declaration of Independence and Articles of Confederation) and events on the ideas within the Constitution. I can explain the ideas expressed in the documents but I have difficulty connecting the documents to the Constitution. I can list the documents that influenced the creation of the Constitution.
