An Introduction to your CMEWeb

What is it? O CMEWeb is an online library catalogue that is accessible anywhere there is internet access… O Desktop computers O Laptop computers O Tablets (both Apple and android) O Mobile phones O iPods (etc)

What will I find? O Your catalogue has your school logo at the top above a search box. Underneath the search box are a number of News Tabs.

How do I search? O To find information you use the pink (ready), yellow (set) and green (go) search boxes. O Click on the down arrow of the pink box to change the search to a Title, Author, Series, etc. search. O Click on the down arrow of the yellow box to “words containing” OR “words beginning with” O Type your search term into the green box.

Inclusivity O When typing in a search, a drop down box appears, to enhance your search. O You need only type the first few letters of a word to find the resource. O This will work for all searches except ALL!

Let’s search for genetic engineering…. O As soon as you start typing, results come up. O The more you type the closer you get to your topic

O You will then get a list of subjects from your catalogue. O Click on the subject which best suits your search

O This topic has only one book in the library. O If you click on the title, the information for the book will be displayed (including a short reference for the book!)

SCIS Websites O This tab provides links to SCIS catalogued Websites. O These websites are all current and live. O There are approximately 7500 sites.

GoTo Links O GoTo links are set up to ‘Go To’ other website searches. O These links GoTo the relevant website and place the search term in the search box with immediate results (where possible) e.g. Trove, State Library of Queensland, etc. O These links can change on a regular basis. O They are very handy if you are searching for a subject and there are limited resources in your school.

O When clicking on a GoTo link this will open a new tab/window so you can go between screens if needed. O Some GoTo links may need the search topic to be typed in e.g. some regional libraries…

My Stuff… O The ‘My Stuff’ box allows you to create an accurate record of your session in the Library e.g. bibliographic details of the resources used; quickly and easily find a resource again that was used in an assignment during the last session. O You can allocate a name to your current tab in My Stuff (this will show up in the subject line of your ). O You can ‘drag and drop’ anything on the page that is underlined.

O You can have a number of tabs open at once in ‘My Stuff’ by using the tab to generate O Once you have all of your information you can then it to yourself/others using the envelope in the corner O You can it to a number of addresses (use one address per line)

What if it’s not in my Library???? O Even if your assignment has an obscure topic (one that does not have resources in your Library) you can still use CMEWeb. O The GoTo box becomes orange and still has links for the you to follow.

News Tabs O Your librarian will update News Tabs on a regular basis so you will know what is happening in your Library.
