 E.R left her 35 year old husband and went back to her family, but they did not accept her.  She then met a 20 year old.  He forced her to be a prostitute.  She soon became pregnant and 3 years later she escaped but was sold again in Albania and Tirana.  Now she is trying to get back on her feet.

 All over there are 27 million people trafficked.  People don’t even know what it is. What is Human Trafficking? Human trafficking is when people are sold and forced into prostitution, drug dealing, and slave labor, all of which are illegal.  There is lack of awareness among Health Care Professionals.

 There are many cases in Texas and they are trying to enforce laws against it.  The fact that there is only one shelter in the U.S. for victims has to change.  We have to get necessary funding from the government.  Jill is from the U.S. and trafficked here.  She ran away from home and didn’t want to go back because she went through a lot of abuses.

 When no one treated her normally a man named Bruce came into her life.

 Average cost of slave is $90.  Half of trafficking victims are under 18.  109% increase of human traffickers since  2/3 of children endure more abuse from their traffickers.  13 million children being victims.

 20,000 victims trafficked in the U.S  In 2006 for every 800 victims only one trafficker was convicted of the crime.  30% of victims will be seen by healthcare professional but will not be seen as a victim.
