Lesson 4: Stand Tall John 15:18-21

Lesson Objectives To embrace the fact that the world will mistreat you if you live the way you are called to live.

Read John 15: Knowing what you know of Jesus’ life, what did He do to deserve the world’s hatred? When you live as “salt” and “light” in the world, acting as Christ-commanded, what makes you worthy of people’s hatred?

Now that you fully understand the discussion, in your own words, what would it take for the world to love you? What would your life have to look like? What is your response when you fully grasp that Christ literally chose you out of the world? How does this make you feel about yourself and about Christ?

Read John 15: When you learn the world hates you because they don’t know God, what does this make you feel for the world?

2 Corinthians 4:16-18 “Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”
