Kortnie Cruz is a new English teacher on campus. She is married. She has several college degrees. How do you write her name?

{ You only call someone “Dr.” if they are a medical doctor. David Cash

What if you want to use his title (superintendent)? Then how do you write his name?

{ It depends on where you put the title. Trick question!

{ In the front, it’s capitalized. … said Superintendent David Cash.

{ In the back, it’s not. … said David Cash, superintendent of Santa Barbara Unified School District.

What’s a good rule of thumb for where to put the title?

If it’s a short title, put it in the front. If it’s more than three words, put it in the back.

… said Principal Shawn Carey.

… said Bill Woodard, assistant principal for curriculum, instruction and assessment.
