DATE AND THE MAIN REASON FOR ESTABLISHMENT Date of establishment: 1999 by three municipalities Reason: the subregion needed an institution to prepare and manage the development programme, prepared after the earthquake in 1998

MAIN AIMS OF SOČA VALLEY DEVELOPMENT CENTRE (SVDC) SVDC is a subregional development agency, established to promote economic and social development in the municipalities of Tolmin, Kobarid, and Bovec. To operate efficiently, Soča Valley Development Centre is organised in four specialised subdivisions, employing 23 experts

OPERATING IN SUBDIVISIONS I. A.ENTREPRENEURSHIP (Local Entrepreneural Centre/Business development): carries out activities within development programme Soča ; provides help and advices to the local entrepreneurs; it coordinates all activities related to promotion of entrepreneurship.

B.HUMAN RESOURCES DEVELOPMENT: carries out activities within development programme SOČA ; prepares and leads different human resources projects; carries out adult education programmes. OPERATING IN SUBDIVISIONS II.

C.REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT and DEVELOPMENT OF RURAL AREAS: prepares different development programmes for disadvantaged rural areas; it is the leading partner in the preparation of the Regional development programme for the whole Goriška statistical region. OPERATING IN SUBDIVISIONS III.

D.PUBLIC RELATIONS DEPARTMENT: it is in charge of promotion and of informing the public on the work of Soča Valley Development Centre; it is concerned with publishing promotional material and website upkeep and of EPIcenter newsletter; promotional activities are also run for other interested institutions.
