Amendment #1  Freedom of speech, press, religion, assembly, petition

Amendment #2  The right to bear arms

Amendment #3  No quartering of soldiers

Amendment #4  No illegal search and seizure; a special warrant is needed

Amendment #5  Right to indictment by grand jury (to make sure there is enough evidence of wrongdoing for a trial)  No double jeopardy (cannot be tried for the same crime twice)  Eminent domain (property can be taken for public use, but only if you are compensated)

Amendment #6  Right to a speedy and public trial by jury  Right to hear witnesses  Right to have an attorney

Amendment #7  In civil cases (non-criminal person-to-person cases), right to trial by jury if issue involves over $20

Amendment #8  No excessive bail  No cruel and unusual punishment

Amendment #9  People have more rights than those listed in the Constitution
