Year 8 Options 2016 Making the right choices

How do I decide? What am I good at already? What do I want to be? Who do I want to be? What will motivate and excite me for three years? What will help me take the next steps in my life? 3

What choices do I have? You have to do: – GCSE English/ English Literature – GCSE Mathematics – GCSE Science – Core RE – Core PE 4

You will also be required to pick one of: Geography History French Spanish You are strongly advised to pick a language, especially if you are planning to go to University

There are 4 option blocks Choose one subject from each block Block D contains Geography, History, French and Spanish only What choices do I have? BUSINESS STUDIES Pupils who are successful in Business enjoy relating new knowledge to the real world knowing what is going on in the news finding out about businesses thinking about ways to solve problems and are good at explaining their ideas clearly in writing interpreting graphs, charts and diagrams doing calculations, learning formulae and applying them

Studying Business can lead to… A level Business / Economics or Extended Diplomas in business-related subjects apprenticeships in Business and Finance learning how to run your own business an understanding about how all organisations are businesses and the main features of running them

The Options Form Your tutor will only give this form to you after half term and only when they think you have given your choices enough thought! Your tutor will only sign it when they are convinced you are making your choices for the right reasons! FINAL DEADLINE 9 th March 2016

Will I get my choices? We always try our best to give you your choices but if… More pupils opt for a course than there are places available Not enough pupils opt for a course and therefore we cannot afford to run it In our opinion, you have made an inappropriate or unwise choice …we can’t 10
