The Social Implications of Educational Attainment

Level of Education Rates

The Situation Analysis According to the US Census, Black males are not graduating from college at the rate of their female counterparts. Both White male and female graduate at almost double the rate of Black males. Considering black men are not earning as many degrees as Black women, the marriage rates of Black families are lower than their non-Hispanic White counterparts.

National Graduation Rates

Black women and Children Degreed Black women are having fewer options in finding equally educated mates. The evidence shows that less Black women are having children then they did 40 years ago. Susie Patton, of The Daily Princetonian told a class of young graduates, “Here’s what nobody is telling you: Find a husband on campus before you graduate.” Patton went on: “You will never again be surrounded by this concentration of men who are worthy of you.
