Apollo Also the son of Zeus, Apollo was considered the god of light.

Ares Ares is the son of Zeus as well (most of them are!!). He was considered the god of war.

Activity instructions:  Choose a Greek god and find at least five facts about them.  Write a short story describing an activity they might have been involved in.

Product description:  I decided to create an introductory presentation for my students to transition between ancient Egypt and ancient Greece. I feel like the use of actual pictures of the landscape that I imported from the internet will give my students an image to put with a concept. I felt like the smart art would be a good way to help my students get a visual mental understanding of how the early civilizations began to mingle as they shred the earths resources around the fertile crescent.  I also included a brief introduction onto Greek mythology and included pictures of a few of the most famous of the Greek gods. This served as a starter to a short in class group project I designed for them. Having the instructions displayed on a PowerPoint slide will save me a lot of time and allow my students to learn how to look for the information they need to complete a task by reading off the board instead of constantly asking me for help.

Reflection on Usage:  I really like the new PowerPoint. The tool bar at the top of the screen is much more informative and user friendly than the last edition in my opinion. I really like the design options that have premade templates that create a very professional design quickly. I can remember having to decide what I wanted my background and text boxes to look like with the old one, and while I like having the creative freedom, its nice to have PowerPoint create a design theme for me. I also like how they give you the options to change the color scheme of the pre made design themes as well.  One thing I learned that I did not know before is that it is much easier to click on the icons within the slide when inserting a picture, chart or video clip. I used to copy paste my pictures into the slides and it didn’t look nearly as good.  Over all I feel that PowerPoint is going to be an invaluable tool as I begin teaching.
