Introduction Task Process Evaluation Conclusion Your task is to research the gods, goddesses and heroes of Greek mythology and quickly preserve the important information. I will provide you with the resources needed to complete this task but it is up to you to put everything together! When you have finished all of the tasks given to you, you and your partner will create your own Greek deity. All of your journey will be submitted in addition to your new creation. If you are ready to begin, click on the process button above!

Introduction Task Process Evaluation Conclusion Throughout this journey you will use the document attached below to build your knowledge. I will give you a copy of the worksheets, but if you lose it you can click below to print an additional copy. Step One Before you can research the gods, goddesses and heroes of Greek mythology you need to learn a little about Greek mythology and the Greek culture. The picture below will take you to a PowerPoint with some great information. For now, you just need to read slides 1-3. Step Two

Introduction Task Process Evaluation Conclusion Step Two Now that you know the purpose of Greek mythology, lets learn about the most important part of Greek mythology-gods, goddesses, and heroes. The Twelve Olympians were key to Greek culture. Explore the Twelve Olympians by clicking on the picture below. Each Olympian has their own page on the website you are going to. Make sure to click on each Olympian and answer the questions in your packet. Step Three

Introduction Task Process Evaluation Conclusion Step Three Now you know a little about the reasoning behind Greek mythology and the Twelve Olympians, it’s time to learn about Greek heroes, some you have probably heard of before! Click on the picture below to be taken to a webpage with great information. Be sure to click on each link and fill out the questions in your packet! Step Four

Introduction Task Process Evaluation Conclusion Step Four My favorite part of Greek mythology are the myths themselves. Remember the purpose of a myth? Check pack to your packet if you have forgotten. Click on the pictures below to be taken to several myths. Step Five

Introduction Task Process Evaluation Conclusion Step Five Now is the time to put what you’ve learned to the test. Can you use the information you have discovered to create a Greek character and myth of your own? You and your partner need to come up with following: -The name of your mythological character -A picture of your character -Information about your character (any special skills/powers etc) -Write a myth that involves your character (remember the purpose of a myth!) You can include actual Greek figures in this myth as long as it centers around your new creation You can combine all of this on poster board, a PowerPoint, a Prezi, or any other approved form. *Click on the Evaluation tab above to see how you will be graded*

Introduction Task Process Evaluation Conclusion

Introduction Task Process Evaluation Conclusion You have only just begun to learn about Greek mythology. There is an endless amount of information available. With this activity, you should have become familiar with Greek mythology, Greek gods, goddesses, and heroes. The knowledge you acquired will help pass on the importance of the Greek Culture. If you have answered every question in your packet and have completed your visual activity you may submit your information. If you finish early, check out the link below to Percy Jackson.

Home Page Teacher Page This WebQuest is created for middle school students and meets the following Kentucky Teacher Standard(s): Reading and Literature Standard; Observing craft and structure; Narratives, Drama, and Poetry; c. compare similar ideas and themes as well as character types in myths, folktales, and legends from different culture. The objectives of this WebQuest are as follows: -Students can identify the purpose of a myth -Students can connect myths to the Greek culture and express the importance of the myths -Students can identify key gods, goddesses and heroes of Greek mythology -Students can discuss important myths researched in the WebQuest -Students understand what makes a Greek god, goddess or hero and can show this understanding in the completion of the final project Accommodations & Modifications Greek Mythology can be a hard concept to grasp. To modify this assignment for students with IEP’s or 504’s, teachers can provide hints on the worksheet asked to be completed, group a student up with another student who will excel in the project, make a point to check in with students throughout group project, communicate with parents during the project, grade on a scale lighter than that of other students as required in any IEP. **Because Greek Mythology contains content (outside of the selected resources) that may be hard to grasp, I would recommend this project for seventh or eighth grade students depending upon their maturity level. Sixth grade students may have a hard time understanding such a complex culture.
