Life Cycle TraitsEcosystemOrganisms Adaptive Characteristics

Characteristics that belong only to mature plants.

What is a flower?

Keep the seed from drying out.

What is the function of the seed coat?

A change that occurs in the life cycle of a frog from a tail to legs.

What is metamorphosis?

Stage of a butterfly that most like a worm in appearance.

What is a larva?

Process by which plants make food.

What is Photosynthesis?

A characteristic or feature of an offspring.

What is a trait?

A behavior inherited from a parent?

What is an instinctive behavior?

A flower that grows tall after fertilizing.

What is an acquired trait?

Traits that parents pass on to offspring.

What are inherited traits?

The external characteristic of a cactus that will protect it from being eaten by an animal.

What are the spines?

Made up of an organism’s surroundings.

What is an environment?

The specific place in an ecosystem where an organism lives…

What is a habitat?

A nonliving part of the ecosystem that is the ultimate source of energy.

What is the sunlight/Sun?

An area where organisms interact with each other and with the nonliving things in the environment.

What is an ecosystem?

Occurs when two organisms need for survival and obtains from its habitat.

What is competition?

An organism, such as a plant making photosynthesis that can make its own food.

What is a producer?

Feed on other organisms, including plants and animals.

What is a consumer

A consumer that breaks down the remains of dead organisms.

What is a decomposer?

The three organisms that eat either plants, animals or both.

What are herbivores, carnivores, and omnivores?

In the food chain cycle, who is the predator and who is the prey?

Who is the hawk to the mouse?

An inherited trait that helps an organism survive and reproduce.

What is an adaptation?

The role that each species plays within its particular ecosystem.

What is a niche?

A trait or behavior that helps an organism survive its environment.

What is an adaptation?

When all the members of a species die off and no longer live on Earth.

What is extinct?

Includes all things, both biotic (living) and abiotic (non living) that surround an organism.

What is an environment?
