Parent Survey Results Autumn Term – Supporting Learning at home/Helping Parents to learn

The purpose of this questionnaire was -  to find out how informed parents feel about what their child is learning and how this can be improved  To find out which workshops parents had attended and found useful  Provide parents with the opportunities to suggest workshops or training which would be of interest  Determine the best times for parents to attend workshops in school.

Questionnaires were sent out to  40 questionnaire were returned to school.  This is a response rate of  36 responses were from Key Stage 1  4 responses were from Key Stage 2

We asked – Do you feel that you have enough information about what your child is learning in school?  Yes 95%  No 5%

Which of these do you use to find out about what you child is learning?

How could we improve how we let you know about what your child is learning? Short description weekly of what the children have been learning. Three parents suggested text messages to say what the children have been learning More 1:1 time with teachers 3 parents suggested more homework I just check the website! You ‘re doing well.

Which workshops did you attend last year?

How did you find these workshops useful? Working with my child gives more idea how they learn, what they do and how teachers teach then we do the same to support our child. Website helps me to find out about Government changes. They were all informative and fun

We received 3 suggestions from the 40 responses for workshops in the future. These were - 1. Homework support 2. Baking 3. Helping with writing

Of the 20 parents who responded to when workshops should take place the answers varied between morning, during school, after school and during the evenings. No time was significantly more popular than another.

In response to these -  We will continue to run the basic Phonics workshops at Key Stage 1 as these are very popular.  To ensure that all parents who collect their children have access to the Parents Boards the doors will be opened at 3:00pm with a member of staff.  Staff are currently discussing ‘Class Dojo’. This is a reward system which links to parents tablets or Smart phones. This could then be used to provide additional information about the week’s learning.  Reception Class will resume using the outdoor board to provide daily up dates about the day’s learning.  All Year groups will continue to up date the class web page to give detailed information about the week’s learning and links to useful websites.  Parents can use the Suggestions Box or Website Parent View to make any suggestions about future workshops.  All staff will be asked to provide at least one workshop per year which allows parents to work alongside their child in class.
