Project Purpose  Main purpose of research project is to investigate: ‘The utility of the sustainable livelihoods approach in identifying the mobility and accessibility needs of the poor, with specific reference to rural- urban linkages’

Research Aims 1. Establish a viable research methodology for the study of mobility and accessibility concepts within the sustainable livelihoods framework 2. Document the relevant importance and nature of mobility patterns in relation to livelihood pursuits of stratified wealth groupings 3. Explore the influence of rural-urban linkages on mobility patterns and how rural-urban differences affect mobility and livelihood options of the poor 4. Identify measures to encourage mobility, accessibility and livelihood prospects of the poor
