Christianity *Remember!!!! Abraham believed that one all-powerful God created the world. Abraham made a covenant with God. The descendants of Abraham would be God’s chosen people, called Hebrews, or Jews today.

So….where does Judaism break off into Christianity???

Christianity Jesus (a Jew) was born in 0 A.D. Jesus traveled around Palestine teaching a new covenant between God and the Jews. Those who followed Jesus’s teachings broke away from other Jews and became Christians, worshipping God in a new way that focused on Jesus’s teachings.

Christianity Christians believe in God as the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This is known as the Trinity

Christianity Christians believe that Jesus died on the cross, buried, and rose from the dead 3 days later. He went up to Heaven to be with God. The stories of his life are told in the Bible.

The Bible Old Testament Judaism Stories about creation, Jews enslaved in Egypt and getting freed by God New Testament Starts with birth of Jesus

Sarah and their son Isaac Hajar and their son Ishmael

Islam Remember!! Abraham made a covenant with God Abraham’s descendants would be favored people

Islam Ok so here’s where it starts getting a little different…. The God of Abraham is called “Allah”

Islam Abraham and Sarah = Issac Hebrews or Jews Abraham and Hajar = Ishmael Arabs

Islam Islam is based on the life of Muhammad, Muhammad was a prophet, spreading God’s word All written in the Koran

Islam Koran contains revelations God made to Muhammad Salvation, eternal life in paradise with God “five pillars”, such as praying 5 times a day Ramadan- fasting
