Mon – Fri Pm Guided Reading: - Guided/Individual Reading, phonic practice, Fri am PE Mon, Tues & Weds pm Learning through theme/topic, Geography, History, ICT, Science, Music, Art, Thurs pm RE/Personal, Social & Emotional Development/Handwriting Fri pm Study Time & Golden Time

Phonics Screening Test Year 1 Phonics Screening Test (June)  All Y1 children  Real & non real words  40 words (don’t know what the pass mark is, usually around 34)  All phonemes learnt throughout F2 and Year 1  If children do not meet the required standard then they have to retake in Y2

Expectations End of Year 1 children:  Orange book band  Phase 5 phonics  Writing independently at length.  Read for enjoyment books from the Y1 book list Book band progression FS - Pink, red, yellow, Y1 - blue, green, orange, Y2 - turquoise, purple, gold, Y3+ - white, lime, free reader. All children to progress to at least 1A (18 Points) in reading writing and maths.

Homework  Read reading book every day at home  Sign reading record. Book bags in the box outside the classroom.  Books will be changed once a week.  Bedtime reading  Practice spellings  Tricky, decodable, common (High frequency) words  Look at the tricky parts in the word.  Put into sentences to understand the word in context.

Handwriting  Practice letter formation/orientation  Cursive handwriting
