Introduction Multiple computers comprise a Computer Network Local computer networks are called Intranets The Internet is connected computers and networks. The World Wide Web contains linked web pages. Highlighted words, phrases, or graphics are Hyperlinks. Web Browsers access and display web pages.

Starting Internet Explorer Using the Start Menu  Begin by clicking Start on the taskbar  Point to Programs, then click Internet Explorer Using the Desktop Icon  On the Desktop is the Internet Explorer icon  Click on it to begin Internet Explorer Using the Quick Launch Toolbar  In Quick Launch, click the Internet Explorer icon

Exploring the Browser Window The Title Bar contains web page names The Menu Bar accesses the browser features The standard Toolbar provides commonly used commands The Address Bar displays the address of the website Links Bar stores favorite web pages The Go Button helps search for websites The Status Indicator, animates while new websites load The Browser Window displays the web page Scroll Bars allow changes in viewing position The Status Bar shows important information

Exiting Internet Explorer Using the Browser Window  Click the close button in the upper-right Using the File Menu  Click File on the Menu bar  Click close
