Krill Definition: A small, pelagic, shrimplike crustaceans. Fact: Krill are essentially the fuel that runs the Earth’s marine ecosystems. Fact: Without these very small, fascinating creatures most of Antarctica’s wildlife would just disappear. Because they are a very important part of the animals diet.
Adelie Penguin! Definition: Medium-sized penguins in large colonies of Antarctica. Fact: Adult’s would steal rock from neighbours’ nests Fact: Size: 27.5 in (70 cm) Weight: 8.5 to 12 Ibs (4 to 5.5 kg) Fact: These cute, adorable Adelie penguins’ life span is about 20 years
Elephant Seal! Definition: Seal with an elephants trunk Fact: These elephant-like Seals are very big and gangrenous. During breeding season each male will collect a harem of 40 to 50 females
Icebergs! Definition: A large patch of floating ice detached from a glacier and also carried out to sea. Fact: The term “iceberg” refers to big chunks of ice a little bit larger than 5 metres (16 feet). Smaller icebergs are known as bergy bit or growlers witch are MUCH more dangerous.
Albatross! Fact: These spectacular and almighty bird has the biggest wingspan out of all the bird (11 feet, 3.4 metres) Definition: The gigantic bird that is closely related to the sea-gulls, storm-petrels and diving- petrels. Fact: The estimated life span of the Albatross is around 50 years.
