MARK’S GOSPEL ABOUT JESUS SEED SOWING

MARK’S GOSPEL ABOUT JESUS I. HOW THE GOSPEL COMES TO US

MARK’S GOSPEL ABOUT JESUS When the seed of the Gospel is planted that the reception will be different for every person. The reception by each person can be different every day!

MARK’S GOSPEL ABOUT JESUS There will be CALLOUSED hearts, which are like a packed down pathway. There will be the IMPULSIVE hearts, which are like the sandy soil. There will be the IMPULSIVE hearts, which are like the sandy soil. There will be OVER INVOLVED hearts, which are like seeds in thorns. Praise God, there will be RECEPTIVE hearts like the good soil.

MARK’S GOSPEL ABOUT JESUS How do we as believers sow the seed? At some point we will grow past ourselves and desire to do what Jesus created ALL believers to do-SERVE and LOVE others

MARK’S GOSPEL ABOUT JESUS II. THE PROCESS OF GROWTH 1 Corinthians 3:6-7- “I planted, Apollos watered, but God was causing the growth. So then neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything but God causes the growth.”

MARK’S GOSPEL ABOUT JESUS The sower knows that even though he doesn’t see any growth of the seed that doesn’t mean it’s not growing! Even though all the seed does not grow, the sower knows that some will!

MARK’S GOSPEL ABOUT JESUS Isaiah 55: “As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower,

MARK’S GOSPEL ABOUT JESUS and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

MARK’S GOSPEL ABOUT JESUS III. THE THRILL OF VICTORY AND THE AGONY OF DEFEAT Jim McKayJim McKay: Spanning the globe to bring you the constant variety of sports... the thrill of victory... and the agony of defeat... the human drama of athletic competition... This is "ABC's Wide World of Sports!" Jim McKay

MARK’S GOSPEL ABOUT JESUS Galatians 6:7-8-“ Don't be misled: No one makes a fool of God. What a person plants, he will harvest. The person who plants selfishness, ignoring the needs of others and ignoring God will harvests a crop of weeds. All he'll have to show for his life is weeds!

MARK’S GOSPEL ABOUT JESUS But the one who plants in response to God, letting God's Spirit do the growth work in him, harvests a crop of real life, eternal life.” But the one who plants in response to God, letting God's Spirit do the growth work in him, harvests a crop of real life, eternal life.”

MARK’S GOSPEL ABOUT JESUS When you look back on your life one day, will your harvest be a harvest of weeds or a harvest of real life?

MARK’S GOSPEL ABOUT JESUS I want to go back to the first point-“How the Kingdom comes to us.” Remember that there has to be a deliberate decision to plant the Gospel?

MARK’S GOSPEL ABOUT JESUS Matthew 28:19-20-“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

MARK’S GOSPEL ABOUT JESUS Will you sow the seeds of the gospel and join Jesus in bringing about abundant harvest right here at Ridgecrest so we can experience the thrill of victory and not the agony of defeat?
