Middle School Grade 2 Chapter 2 We Can Save the Earth

Today, this lesson will focus on: Pages 28 and 29 part C

Today, we will focus on: Reminding someone 생각나게 하다 And Reasons why or excuses 이유

On the bottom of page 28: Part C Match and Talk What will you say in each situation?

You’re late. You didn’t clean your room. Your piano playing is too loud. I have a piano contest tomorrow. I was too busy. I missed the bus. I thought it was mine. You’re sitting in my seat. Let’s match them together. 결혼시키다 “You’re late” matches with which one on the right? Right. It matches with, “I missed the bus.” Why were you late? Because you missed the bus. What about, “You didn’t clean your room.”? Which one does it match? I was too busy. Why didn’t you clean your room? You were busy, maybe studying or playing League of Legends. What about, “Your piano playing is too loud.”? Which one does it match? “I have a piano contest tomorrow.” That’s an easy one because they both mention piano. And the last one, easiest because all the others are done for you… “You’re sitting in my seat.” matches with… You’re sitting in my seat. I thought it was mine.

Good job!

Excuses 이유

In America, being on time is important. But there are still people that are always late…for *everything.

You might hear someone say, He’d be late for his own funeral.

That means the person is always late.

But we still need excuses And know how to use them.

I had to wait a long time for a taxi. I was late getting somewhere, maybe school, a meeting, or work.

I got lost! ( 길을 잃었 )? Maybe it was my first time going there and I couldn’t find it.

Traffic ( 고객수 ) was terrible! I was late for something again because there were too many cars on the roads.

So now we’ll try a quick exercise. I will give each of you a piece of paper. One will have something that happened, and one will have an excuse. You need to walk around the room and see if you can find your match!

Let’s see how fast we can do this!

What happened. The reason / excuse. You didn’t come to the party last night.Sorry, my desk was broken. Could you turn your music down?Sorry, the bus got into an accident. You’re sitting at my desk.I didn’t study as hard as I should have. You didn’t clean your room.I don’t like eating shrimp. You’re late!Sorry, I was busy studying. I didn’t see you at lunch.Sorry, I must have forgotten to turn it off. You didn’t play soccer today.Yes, I have a big test tomorrow. You didn’t do very well on the exam.I don’t like animation movies. I didn’t see you at the Shrimp Festival.Sorry, I will put on my headphones. You left the light on in the classroom.Sorry, I will remember to close them. You left the windows open.I broke my leg yesterday. You didn’t see Frozen.I wasn’t very hungry. You didn’t ride your bike to school?I was really busy. You were studying all night? No, I walked.

Good job! Fantastic!

Now we’ll look quickly at: Reminding people of things. Reminding someone 생각나게 하다

Reminding people to do things.

There many situations where you ask someone to do something, and later you think they forgot.

Here are some phrases, to help you remind them.

These are a bit different, because we stress certain words more when we remind someone. In English, stress (on words In English, stress ( 강조하다 ) on words plays an important role plays an important role.

Don’t forget to… Remember to… With Don’t forget to, we stress the word don’t. With Remember to, we stress the ‘mem’ in remember.

Just like in the book… What are some of the things we can ask people to remember? (Using ‘Don’t forget to’ and ‘Remember to’)

Don’t forget to close the windows. Remember to close the windows.

Remember to lock the door. Don’t forget to lock the door.

Don’t forget to clean the floor. Remember to clean the floor.

Don’t forget to water the plants. Remember to water the plants.

Remember to turn off the lights. Don’t forget to turn off the lights.

Now a few that aren’t from the book.

Remember to take your medicine. Don’t forget to take your medicine.

Remember to study! Don’t forget to study.

Remember to feed the dog! Don’t forget to feed the dog.

If someone reminds you to do something, hopefully, you’ll say “Okay, I will.”

And hopefully, if you are reminding them, they’ll say… ? Ok, I will.

Good job!Good job!Good job!Good job!
