Graphing Rational Numbers on a Number Line SWBAT GRAPH RATIONAL INTEGERS ON A NUMBER LINE.

Warm Up (12 minutes)

Vocab  Rational numbers are numbers that can be written as a fraction. Ex: 3 = 3/1  They include: zero, positive integers, negative integers, positive nonrepeating decimals, and negative nonrepeating decimals.

Example: Graph 1 ¾ We need to THINK  1 ¾ is greater than 1, but less than 2, therefore it sits between 1 and 2. We can divide the space between 1 and 2 into 4 sections and then easily see where the 3 rd 4 th would be

Your Turn Graph 2.7 Hint: 2.7 is 2 and 7 tenths

More Practice Plot ½, 3.25, and 1 ¼ on a number line. Plot -3 ¼, 4 ¾, -1 ½, and 2 on a number line. Plot -1.4, 2.8, 4.7, and -5.3 on a number line.
