Multicultural Projects Deventer 2

Objective To get familiar with different cultures and economics. – Personal definition of acculturation: To be able to interpret behaviour or rituals from other people and to transfer it to your “culture”. Adapt to a different environment. – Acculturation is important to be able to focus on our academic performance.

Problems Encountered (general) problems: – Time management – Directions and Transportations – Languages – Food

How to Solve? Food and Language (Inscribed in)? – Need to adapt preferences to the available products Different products Different prices compared to our hometown Dutch descriptions, wich we cannot understand We derive a lot of methods to solve the problems: – Maps (transportation, markets, banks) – Apps – A 5-minute guide book – “How-not-to-Starve Guide”

Our Product

Reflections Concordantly we agreed that the most essential problem is “how to get ‘the right’ food without understanding the Dutch language” Divinding tasks: – Taking pictures of similar food – Disigning the layout – Making the presentation

Reflection What went well? Cooperative discussions Concordant agreement on or objective and product Coordination What went wrong? Misinterpretations about the tasks (paradigm shift ) Different perspective of structure of assignments Different perception of time Solutions: Spontaneous remodelling of our product Discussing and debating Setting rules

Conclusions Different Being patient butpoints of view Different ways to debate and discuss Slight language problems What to do? express our opinion cautiously to prevent: misinterpretions/offenses set clear rules Getting familiar with different behaviour: – Lunch schedule – Time definition
