STATEMENT “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.” “Just ignore the bully and they will go away.” “You need to grow thicker skin.” Phrases used to help a student cope with a bully. However the harsh reality is, that students who are bullied are really hurt. The constant belittling and harassment that one student does to another can cause serious emotional hurt to a person being bullied. Such events could lead to self confidence issues and can cause educational problems for student.

MESSAGE Nine out of ten elementary students have been recorded stating that they have been bullied. The effects of bullying can harm the person being bullied and the bully himself. Ignoring the issue wont make it go away. Stand up and stop the problem. One person being bullied is too many.

OPPOSING VIEWS The training for such education is very costly. Resource officers should take more responsibilities against bullying versus educators. Some believe that the issue of bullying begins in the childs household and parents versus needing teacher intervention.
