History of Bach Bach was born in Germany on March 21, He went on to become one of the greatest composers in History Bach performed music during the Baroque period. He had a strong musical background, having many family members involved with music.

History of Bach -Bach studied at the prestigious St. Michaels in Luneberg, Germany Work History -His first job was not performing music. - Eventually he was offered a job as organist for the St. Boniface's Church in Arnstadnt - He later obtained another organist position at St. Blasius's in Muhlstein

History of Bach Bach married his second cousin Maria Barbara Bach in They had seven children together. Although, three died. Three of Bach’s own children pursued music successfully. Maria later died and he married Anna Wilke, fathering thirteen children with seven dying.

History of Bach -Joann Sebastian Bach dies on July 28, 1750 at the age of 65. -He dies from a stroke and fever. Some say due to a botched eye surgery. -He is buried at St John's cemetery in Leipzig.

History of Music Accomplishment While working at St. Blasius's in Muhlstein Bach organized the renovation of the organ and published his first cantata, God is my King BWV71. He performed this piece at the inauguration of the city council. l Gott ist mein König

History of Music Accomplishment While living in Welmar, he became a concert master at the dual court. Finding in interest in Italian style Bach reached a world class level. -The well tempered Keyboard -Little Organ Book Bach was jailed in 1717 and unfavorably discharged.

Music Selections I No.3 In G major BWV 1048 (Brandenburg Concertos) (6:32) -Number 3 out of 6 compositions -Ritornello Form -3 Violins, 3 violas, 3 cellos, a bass and continuo

Movement I- Allegro (0:00) starts with moderate allegro introduction of motif, including piano, violin, violas, cellos. (:23) returns to original motif. (:44) Returns to motif with additional solo added on

(1:41) turns to motif again with a different twist. It is playing in triple meter. The piece is Reminiscent of an Italian Concerto. The melody and harmony are flowing together to create a smooth ascending and descending major mode. (2:48) Just violin and piano play; a break for violas and cellos. (2:55)All instruments start in harmoniously. (3:00) Returns to original motif again.

(3:25) Last time returns to motif proving it is in ritornello form. (4:24) Begins ascension (5:10) Music begins to descend until it starts to rise again at (5:45) (6:38) Conclusion of 1st movement (6:41) Movement II-Adiagio (7:52) Movement III- Allegro This song is full of unison that regroups with the main motif over and over again. He adds unique solo or added music but always starts with the same motif. It is very bright and strong.

Music Selections II Gloria in excelsis Deo, BWV 191. (6:38) -One of Bachs most well known Cantatas -Only Cantata to ever be written in Latin -3 trumpets, timpani, 2 flutes, 2 oboes, 5 voices, strings and continuo.

Music Selections II Gloria in excelsis deo cont.. -The song is in C Major -Presented in 3 Arias -Chorus: Gloria in excelsis deo, Et in terra pax hominibus bonae voluntatis. -Translates to: Glory to God in the highest, and peace on earth to men of good will.

The piece starts with trumpets and violins (0:24) round voices enter singing In Excelsis Deo (:39) Round voices again enter singing in Excelsis Deo -ARIA- Gloria Patri et Filio et Spiritui sancto. Which translates, Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. (1:37) transitions to slower melody and harmony. (2:35) String instrumental solos. -Chorus- Sicut erat in principio et nunc et semper et in saecula saeculorum, amen. Which translates, As it was in the beginning and now and always and in the age of ages, amen

. (3:03) Chorus starts again in D major. Instrumentals play out. (4:01) starts the conclusion of the song! This piece was a religious cantata that is deemed a classic for the ages. I enjoyed listening to it and translating the Latin.
