Enduring Understandings  An information literate individual critically and skillfully evaluates information across sources. (Literacy Standards for Student Learning, American Association of School Librarians c1998.)

Essential Questions  Can we believe everything we read, view or hear?  How do we determine what’s useful and what’s not?  What makes a resource outstanding?

Role  You are a student representative of the HSSD Evaluating Resources Committee.

Audience  The audience is the HSSD Evaluating Resources Committee.  You also must think about the second grade students who will be using the butterfly website for research.

Situation  You have been asked to review a butterfly website and evaluate it for accuracy, ease of use, and appropriateness for use by second grade students.evaluate  Be prepared to convince the HSSD Evaluating Resource Committee to link the website of your choice to the library resource page for second grade science.

Product Performance and Purpose:  Using SMART notebook software prepare a virtual tour of your butterfly website.  Include an evaluation of the website and how it will or will not help second grade students understand the life cycle of a butterfly.second grade
