SESSION I: DEFINITIONS GC: process by which two or more grants are combined into one grant per PR per disease CONSOLIDATED DISEASE PROPOSAL: All funding needs requested from GF for the 5 year period covered by the proposal are shown Includes new activities and costs, plus those from all existing grants for the disease Shows harmonized picture of GF funded portion of national disease programme 3

BENEFITS OF ACCESSING FUNDING THROUGH CONSOLIDATED DISEASE PROPOSALS Phase 1Phase 2 Phase 1 R6 R7 R8 Proposal shows all previous & proposed GF support for all PRs in a disease Expected benefits include: CCMs coordinate proposal development based on wider programmatic view Holistic, national program-based resource planning and gap analysis Facilitates rethinking program and implementation arrangements Gives TRP a wider programmatic picture 4 Phase 2 Consolidated Application Program Expansion

CRITICAL STEPS IN DEVELOPING CONSOLIDATED PROPOSALS Analyse strengths and weaknesses of previous proposals Perform comprehensive national gap analysis in line with disease strategy Define the overall proposal focus to address programmatic gaps Identify possible PRs for new funding and likely consolidation requirements with their existing grants Develop a roadmap & calendar and avail to a broad audience Link management of consolidation and proposal process Establish regular open communications : Between CCM, PRs, GF and LFA for clarification and specific processes SRs and other national stakeholders 5
