GRADED UNIT Hassan Noori

The Topic  This package will be 6 to 8 minutes talking about the Scottish tartan, as a part of the Scottish exports one hour radio magazine.

The Angle  Generally, This package talking about the cultural legacy of the origin Scottish Tartan, How the tartan become known in the world?, And how the tartan designs became a popular and global?, originally it’s Scottish but the people now uses the Tartan in everyday life without being there in order to refer to Scotland.  I will focus on a basic points which is Turn the tartan from Scottish culture to global culture.  Also, I’ll highlight Scotland’s benefits, in distribution Tartan all over around the world, in culture, social and economic.  I want to answer this question through this package: All the world today knows the Tartan, how did this happen?  As well as some parts in the package will talk about the historical and industrial sides of the Tartan

The Research  I separate the research to 3 main parts 1. General research, This includes the research on the historical side To know the historical events that contributed to spread the Tartan outside of Scotland, In addition to get a general information about Tartan, I took that information through these websites: Scots Connection Tartans of Scotland Scottish Tartans Authority History of the Tartan, Wikipedia References from the college library: Tartans Pleasures and Treasures, by Christian Hesketh Scottish Clans & Tartans, by Ian Grimble Tartan, by Hugh Cheape Visions of Scotland, DVD

The Research 2. Research for The Industry and the Trade of Tartan, My aim of this research is to obtain information on production and trade the Tartan for export: Scotweb, k4N218K4CFQ1lfAodXQgXJg k4N218K4CFQ1lfAodXQgXJg Trade Tartan Ribbon, ribbon.com/ ribbon.com/ House of Tartan, Houston Traditional Kilt makers, Hector Russell,

The Research 3. In this part of the research I wanted to gather information on the use of the Tartan in fashion design outside Scotland To find out the demand for the Scottish Tartan and its popularity outside: French fashion designers, designers.info/french-fashion-designers.htmlhttp:// designers.info/french-fashion-designers.html MALAM Paris * In addition to this research, I have talked to some people about the Tartan, that gave me an idea about some of the traditions things like the colors differences and the events for wear it.

Perception of the style  I looking forward to design this package in Informative style, balance pace, a little bit of the background music, Rich information continuous all the time.

The Interviews  I need this 3 interviews for this package, which are: 1. Historian specializing in the history of Scotland, I want him to answer questions about when and how the Tartan began spread to the world, And I expect to get other interesting information through this interview can be added to the package. 2. Exporter dealer or factory manager of Tartan, Will be questions about the exports of the Scottish Tartan, what are the countries most import, the income, and other things. 3. Fashion designer from outside Scotland, Certainly this interview will be useful because it gives us chance to listen to the other viewpoint about the Tartan, Would be interesting to the audience to hear the opinion of others about a local product. * ( I've contacted to many of second and third class and I still wait for them confirmation, Also I need to find the right historian to start contact to him )

The Story Arc  I want to explain here the general track of the story 1. Introduction by presenter will talking about the status of the Tartan in Scotland, In addition to this the presenter will be the key to move between the paragraphs of package until reaching to the end of the package. 2. Vox pops I will use the Zoom to record this In the city center, I'll targeting the foreign tourists to get some different accents, I shall take this as a prelude to the topic, there will be not deep questions. 3. The first interview, Will access to this station by presenter, I want to have this interview with the historian in order to explain the reasons for the spread of tartan and how this happened. 4. The second interview, Also, this interview will be provided by presenter, I looking for doing this interview with a director of Tartan factory or tartan dealer to tell us about the exports of the Tartan. 5. The third interview, As usual we will reach here by presenter, I want to have this interview with fashions designer from Paris, because Paris is famous in fashion, I want to cover in this interview the position of tartan in the fashion world and the extent of its importance in this area. 6. Simple conclusion by presenter, to link the last interview with the end of package.

presenter will lead the package Vox pops with tourists in the city center Interview 1 Interview 2 Interview 3 The end of the package

Attract the audiences  As I said, the presenter leading will be the most important point.  Also the diversity of the interviews will be a positive thing.  I don't rely so much on the use of music now, but I think that the decision will be at the stage of finishing touches, Anyway, this music would be almost a Scottish traditional music, ( I need to talk with the group before making this decision to make sure the if it suitable music to the magazine or not ).  Recording the vox pops in the city center will be effective, As well as the selection of non-local accents will put the listener in the form of the topic, Also, I will try to take the interviews face-to-face because this would be more effective.  Although the language would be a little bit formal but I'm not thinking to use a difficult or deep words.

The Radio Station  The radio station will be Radio BBC Scotland.  we agreed in the group to choice the Radio BBC Scotland.  Based on this choice, We also agreed to make a radio magazine program for Radio BBC Scotland.

About Radio BBC Scotland  The main objective of Radio BBC Scotland is to cover the life in Scotland in general, Political, economic, social, etc.  Presented to the opinion of the Scottish to the global, national and local events.  Certainly, to highlight everything related to inheritance of civilisation, and local creativity to reflect the image of the national identity of Scotland.

About Radio BBC Scotland  BBC Radio Scotland aims to be the national radio service for Scotland, offering news and sport, quality speech and specialist music from a Scottish perspective. In addition, Radio Scotland delivers a broad range of unique programmes from Scotland, including investigations, drama, comedy and live music. Suitable package for Radio BBC Scotland style and its target audience  As we know that the Tartan is a Scottish symbol, and has a direct relationship with the Scottish culture and history, So this is one of the Radio BBC Scotland aims which is focus on everything about Scotland.  Also it's suitable for the target audience of Radio BBC Scotland because it discusses the issue of the Scottish Tartan.  The spaces of the talk and dialogues is the largest in the Radio BBC Scotland and take the formal character often, for this reason I will make the package fit to this style depending on the presenter to provide the information and interviews by a balanced pace.  I talked with my group about the appropriate times to broadcast our radio magazine program, In principle, we are thinking about the time between 3:00 to 4:00 pm on Sunday, Anyway, this package will not be before the driving time.

Magazine Program  This package will be one of the paragraphs of the magazine program called ‘ the Scottish exports ’, This magazine will include 4 other packages which is: * 'Scottish Music’ by Allan * 'Scottish Sitcoms’ by James * 'Scottish writers' by Liam * 'Scottish whiskey' by Jen As we can see that all issues are interrelated and interconnected and all of them start from one point which is Scottish matters In the terms of exports. This program will cover one hour, will be moving during this between packages and music, and there will be a live interview, the team members will rotate on the present and broadcast these paragraphs.

The costs  Limited to the cost in: The studio I found this offer on the website of Swanfield Studios: 3 hour session - £ The Presenter: Currently, I do not have a specific amount.
