EPA standards for tap water

Adults: Kidney problems; high blood pressure

EPA: These contaminants are not health threatening at the SMCL. Public water systems only need test for them on a voluntary basis.

Quality of Bottled Water Findings 1.Most bottled water apparently is of good quality, but some contains contamination; it should not automatically be assumed to be purer or safer than most tap water. 2. Bottled water contamination with microbes may raise public health issues, particularly for people who are immunocompromised. 3. Government bottled water regulations and programs have serious deficiencies. 4. Voluntary bottled water industry controls are commendable, but an inadequate substitute for strong government rules and programs. 5. Bottled water marketing can be misleading.
