Elements, Compounds, Mixtures Lab  At each station you will find a petri dish containing a model of an element, compound, or mixture using nuts, bolts, and washers.  Imagine that the nuts, bolts, and washers represent different types of atoms.  On your data sheet, draw what you observe, then indicate whether the combination of items represents an element, a compound, or a mixture.

Drawing Your Observations

Elements, Compounds, Mixtures Lab  On the second half of pg 58, please answer the following questions using complete sentences: 1. What do the nuts, bolts, and washers represent? 2. How were you able to identify the combination of items as an element, a compound, or a mixture? 3. Create your own model with nuts, bolts, and washers. Draw it here and leave a blank space for your partner to identify it as an element, a compound, or a mixture.
