3 THINKING FORWARD Embarking on your journey into Exact Target… Put the images for your newsletter in a folder and zip it. Zipping a folder or file: Right-click on the folder or file. Choose Winzip > Add to Zip File... > Add Go to the Web site: Login: username: PerformicsPM password: welcome3!

4 THINKING FORWARD Embarking on your journey into Exact Target… **Paste everything you will need into Notepad including copy, dates and link IDs.** Click on the Content tab. Under My Images, locate your client. If they are not listed, right click on My Images and choose New Folder. Name it with your client name.

5 THINKING FORWARD Embarking on your journey into Exact Target… Under the Advertiser’s Images Folder, select Batch Upload. Select Browse. Find the WinZip file and click OK. Your images will load.

6 THINKING FORWARD Embarking on your journey into Exact Target… Once your images load, they will appear in the pop up screen. You can edit the names of the files here under Display Name. Click OK. Your images will appear in the folder, ready for use.

7 THINKING FORWARD Embarking on your journey into Exact Target… Create your newsletter in the correct year’s folder. If your client sends out newsletters once a week, you may want to create individual folders. To add months under the year, right click the advertiser name and choose new folder. Type Continue to repeat this process for each month with , and so on. Naming them in this way will put them in the correct order. Next, go to the Content tab > my s > Find Advertiser Name

9 THINKING FORWARD Diving right in Go to My templates > choose Advertiser Promotion (opt-in), Advertiser Administrative (all publishers), Recruitment (custom list), or Promotional (custom list) Step 2 Step 1 Step 3

10 THINKING FORWARD Diving right in Name: Date then Advertiser Name then the type of (Promo, Admin, or Recruit). Subject Line: This is what will be displayed in the Publisher’s Inbox. Avoid spam triggers. Create in Folder: This will appear automatically.

11 THINKING FORWARD Diving right in These content boxes will appear next. In the date box, click Create.

12 THINKING FORWARD Free Forming: Date Date Field Select Free Form > Next

13 THINKING FORWARD Free Forming: Format Always use this format: Month Day, Year. You may have to add some basic html to format it correctly. Highlight and use the right align button. Format all text as Verdana.

14 THINKING FORWARD Free Forming: Meat and Potatoes Body of Create > Free Form > Any time you are pasting from Word, ConnectCommerce, an , etc. you MUST copy and paste the text into Notepad, then copy and paste into ET.

15 THINKING FORWARD Meat and Potatoes To place your image: Insert > Image, find your file.

16 THINKING FORWARD Hyperlinks 101 To link the banner, right click it and choose Image Properties. Note: This step is optional.

17 THINKING FORWARD Hyperlinks 101 Go to the Link Properties tab and fill out the information. Note: You must fill out the Tooltip box (link display information) if you link the image. This is what people will see when they scroll over the image. Repeat this process for every image before saving.

18 THINKING FORWARD Hyperlinks 101 The tracking URLs cannot be hyperlinked. If they are, highlight and select the Unhyperlink button.

19 THINKING FORWARD Hyperlinks 101 Be sure to double check in Outlook that the reply-to address is correct. You will need to hyperlink this address. Highlight the address and select the Hyperlink button. Use the drop down arrow to select Address. Fill in the ‘Address’ box with the address and click OK.

20 THINKING FORWARD Hyperlinks 101 To hyperlink a Web site such as ConnectCommerce: Highlight ConnectCommerce > Hyperlink Icon Link to: Website Fill in URL > OK

21 THINKING FORWARD Symbols To insert a symbol such as ‘SM’ after OrangeLinks, place your cursor where you want the symbol. Go to Insert > Symbol

22 THINKING FORWARD Symbols Choose ‘SM’ or desired symbol and click OK.

23 THINKING FORWARD Sneak preview You can see what the newsletter will look like in html by clicking on the Preview HTML Version tab. Before sending a proof, there are some important things you should check.

25 THINKING FORWARD The Wiz When you are all finished, Save. Send the to yourself to check the links. Click Send . Hit Next.

26 THINKING FORWARD The Wiz Go to my lists > 0 DoubleClick. Choose your name and/or the people you want to send the proof. Then hit Next. Step 1 Step 2 Step 3

27 THINKING FORWARD The Wiz The next screen asks about excluding groups. Just hit Next. Select your advertiser in the From dropdown. Type [Proof]: before the subject line. Uncheck the Link Tracking. Check the box for Suppress this send from reports. Step 1 Step 2 Step 3

28 THINKING FORWARD The Wiz Select your client from the drop down arrow. Choose to send the newsletter immediately.

29 THINKING FORWARD The Wiz Make sure all of the information is correct, check the ‘if correct’ box, and hit Send. You should see a screen confirming that your was sent. Click Finish.

30 THINKING FORWARD It isn’t perfect? To edit your newsletter, click on content. Find your advertiser and find your newsletter. It will open on the ‘Edit HTML Version’ tab.

31 THINKING FORWARD It isn’t perfect? Scroll down to the end of your newsletter and click Modify.

32 THINKING FORWARD Quick fixin’s The newsletter will open on the ‘edit’ tab. Make any changes and Save.

33 THINKING FORWARD If you’re a guru… If you are html savvy, you can edit your newsletter by clicking on the html tab. Check Word Wrap and Indent HTML to make the html manageable. Edit as necessary. Save.
