Architectural Design Basic Sketching Skills & Front View of House Plan UNT in partnership with TEA. Copyright ©. All rights reserved.

When drawing a house, the basic views needed are:  You have to have a Floor Plan or the Top View of the house - what you see if you were looking down on it from the sky. UNT in partnership with TEA. Copyright ©. All rights reserved. 2

Other views you need to draw are?  Start with the Front. This is the view with the most detail & usually where the entrance door is.  This is shown upside down for better reference for you. UNT in partnership with TEA. Copyright ©. All rights reserved. 3

What are we doing today?  Today we will practice SKETCHING!  This means you will only use a pencil & your hand. Your lines won’t be perfectly straight because you can’t use any drafting tools.  On the paper given draw the Front View Elevation to the best of your ability. Don’t worry about the details unless you have extra time & want to go for some bonus points. UNT in partnership with TEA. Copyright ©. All rights reserved. 12

Remember to….  Always darken in your titleblock’s border.  Always neatly letter your text  Complete the self assessment rubric, your teacher will double check this.  Tomorrow you will draft using tools the same front view but with less instructions just examples shown. Textbook Texas approved publishers are:  Goodheart-Willcox  Delmar Learning  Prentice Hall All have a companion workbook’s with more problems. I recommend using it or any other approved textbook, i.e., if you are ATC or TechPrep and must teach using local colleges textbook. UNT in partnership with TEA. Copyright ©. All rights reserved. 15
