Did not believe that teachers should be paid to teach; did not believe in memorization Evil could result from ignorance Socratic Method – persistent questioning Criticized democracy – made many enemies Put on trial and convicted for corrupting the minds of Athenian Youth The unexamined life is not worth living!!
