Ed “Big Daddy” Roth

D.O.B: March 4, 1932 Place: Beverly Hills, CA Known for: Creating the Rat Fink cartoon and investing a new material for molding custom car bodies. Roth graduated from Bell High school in 1949 and then went to ELAC. In 1960, he opened Roth Studios in Maywood and started a T-shirt making business. At the Studio, 25 people would work for him making shirts, stickers, and designs for custom cars. He would also pinstripe cars and sell model cars of his famous hot rods.

Beatnik Bandit Description: Built in 1960 Built from a 55’ chassis and made of fiberglass. The car is painted a pearl color with brown and gold accents. It has a futuristic look with it bubble plexiglass dome. The cockpit has a single joystick which controls steering, acceleration, and braking. The car has white wall tires and chrome reversed wheels. In 1962, the Beatnik Bandit won every car show it entered.
