EXECUTIVE ORDER NO. 12 Series of 2010  CREATING THE CORTES MARINE PROTECTED AREAS STEWARD IN THE STRENGTHENING THE MANAGEMENT OF MARINE PROTECTED AREAS OF CORTES, MANDATING ITS FUNCTIONS, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

 “WHEREAS, there is a need to formally organize the CORTES MPA STEWARD IN THE STRENGTHENING THE MANAGEMENT OF MARINE PROTECTED AREAS OF CORTES ( Burgos and Uba ) to ensure continuous guidance and technical assistance in terms of marine protected area governance for Burgos and Uba Marine Protected Area Management Council;  “ WHEREAS, effective and sustained governance and enforcement of Burgos and Uba is an essential component for the successful and meaningful implementation of the two-year rare Pride Campaign Program in the strengthening the management of Uba and Burgos MPA; 

 “ WHEREAS, Burgos and Uba Marine Protected Areas provide the opportunity for the municipality of Cortes to showcase its very productive coral reef resources and establish as a marine ecotourism showcase site and a source of Pride for the Municipality of Cortes;

 Strengthening the management of Burgos & Uba MPA through local communities For What? - Increase fish stocks within the core zone of the MPA - Spill-over effect - Sustainable increase of fish catch of community fishers
