Science

Children in Nursery and Reception develop ‘Knowledge and Understanding of the World’ through play and child initiated activities. Years 1-6 are following the updated national curriculum. Either thematic learning (where they link their learning to other subjects) or as a stand alone topic.

A ‘mastery’ approach to science. Topics such as Plants, Forces, The Human Body and Electricity will be repeated over certain year groups.

Working Scientifically In most lessons the focus will be on practical work – Classifying – Researching – Comparative/fair testing – Pattern seeking – Observing over time
