Summer Activities Go around room and have each district talk about summer projects that kept them busy!!! A time to share success, failures, and surprises. In hindsight, I should have _____.

Nortel Upgrades Nortel 8600 Software Upgrade to Started on July 10 th, ended Aug 3 rd No problems! Thank you for your cooperation! $0.00

Fortinet Upgrade Upgraded Software on 3600 from 2.80 to 3.0 on July 5th Added second 3600 for redundancy Problems : –Existing 3600 would not go into HA mode ( turned off DHCP ) –Issues accessing Mail Web interface with Active – Active mode –OSPF Multicast required policy in Transparent mode –Outbound AV Scan caused Internet performance hit All issues resolved with configuration changes $35,000

Bluecoat Upgrade Added new Bluecoat Cache Server Model Tested Web Load Balancing in Mid-August Removed Web Load Balancing when content filtering issues were discovered Manually configured Load Balancing by creating a Primary and Secondary for WINS, Widener Academic, Tech Park, and Widener Dorms $55,000

Cisco Upgrades On Aug 25 th while investigating sluggish Internet performance on the SNIP ISP, Cisco support noted that CEF ( Cisco Express Forwarding ) was not running. Due to the over 300,000 BGP routes, the 256 MB of RAM on the Cisco router was saturated and CEF was not possible. Cisco could only recommend a hardware upgrade. The YIPES router had been upgraded in March to allow a GIG interface to be added. We called CNI to get an upgrade for the SNIP and Internet2 routers to the same processor and RAM as the YIPES router. On Aug 31 st the SNIP and Internet2 routers were upgraded. Kevin Lynch of CNI performed the upgrades. ( Excellent Job! ) Sluggishness fixed!! CEF now working well! Internet Smoking!! $35,000

Technology Committee Update Dr. Moleski to discuss status of “ownership” investigation and update on committees. Priceless
