Example 1 Elapsed Time Saul studied for his science test from 4:15 P.M. until 7:25 P.M. How long did Saul study for the test? Step 1 Write the times in units of hours and minutes. Ending time: 7:25 P.M. Starting time: 4:15 P.M. 7 hours 25 minutes 4 hours 15 minutes
Example 1 Elapsed Time Answer: So, Saul studied 3 hours and 10 minutes for his science test. Step 2 Subtract the starting time from the ending time. Make sure you subtract hours from hours and minutes from minutes. 7 hours 25 minutes 3 hours 10 minutes – 4 hours 15 minutes Elapsed time:
