Influences Techniques and styles of the Renaissance started to fade as new theories and beliefs started forming –Sun being the center of the universe Diversity and variety in all the arts –Brought passion, intellect, and spirituality into a world of expression that varied from country to country.

Baroque Art Characteristics A lot of the work is characterized by excess, ornamentation, contrasts, tensions, and energy. Just as Renaissance artists were famous and popular, so were Baroque artists. –Bernini –Borromini –Caravaggio –Carracci –Rembrandt –Diego Velasquez –Vermeer

Caravaggio Abandoned the idea of human and religious experience, instead painted realistic naturalism. Some artists thought that some of his paintings were disrespectful and lacking in devotion.
