Type 1 Wildland Fire Fighter Training TRAINING BEGINS: In Wabasca on April 18 th – April 27 th, 2016! Our goal is to ensure that candidates selected for their potential are sufficiently screened and possess the appropriate knowledge and skills to be effective in their employment as a Type 1 Firetack Member. Learn to fight fires safely and aggressively. Wildland Firefighting - Firetack Crew Member is an 10-day training program designed to prepare you in the practical and technical skills required to work as a highly trained, dedicated Wildland Firefighter member. A firetack crew member's main duties are sustained action fire containment and initial attack fire suppression. This training will increase your demand during peak or emergency fire seasons, with opportunities to be exported provincially and nationally. This program consists of lectures and field training using the techniques and standards set by Alberta Environment and Sustainable Resource Development. Admission Requirements Grade 10 academic level. Must be in excellent physical health. Prior firefighting experience is an asset. Career Potential Certified Wildland Firefighters work directly with the Alberta Environment and Sustainable Resource Development in a variety of fire suppression activities.
